Global temperatures are on the rise, the oceans are warming, ice sheets are shrinking, glaciers are retreating and our oceans are rising. Extreme weather events are becoming more and more common. We live in a moment of intense social and political turmoil, however we must not forget the current turmoil happening in the environment as well. Human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and the agricultural industry have greatly contributed to the sobering facts above. In order to ensure a healthy world for ourselves, our children and our future, we need to listen to science. As your representative, I will continue to fight to protect the climate and to pass legislation aimed at reducing our carbon footprint, increasing research into renewable energy and finding sustainable ways to lead our lives.
