One of Nancy's first acts as Mayor in 2018 was to pass an ordinance that ensured residents are protected from discrimination based not only on their sexual and gender identities, but also on their race, physical ability, age and religion.
The LGBTQ+ community deserves respect and rights in the workplace and in their daily lives. Those in the LGBTQ+ community are our friends, our families, our neighbors, and ourselves. Everyone deserves protection under the law. In Harrisburg, Nancy will work to enforce and protect these basic and crucial rights.
Nancy was proud to stand with over 65 mayors, representing municipalities with more than 21 million Americans, in support of the transgender community and in opposition to the Trump Administration's proposed change to the Equal Access rule to remove critical protections for transgender Americans seeking shelter.
When we stand up for those who are most vulnerable, we lift our entire community up. Politics is about people. Nancy will continue to fight to ensure equality under the law for ourselves, our family, and our community.
